Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Haerd — compatibility, voice profiles, and joining the waitlist.
The concept
Isn’t this just another dating app?
No. Most apps are built to keep you swiping — Haerd is built to help you actually commit to someone. Every profile comes with a real compatibility score, you can only hold two matches at a time, and you hear people’s voices before you ever meet. It’s dating designed to end with you off the app, not glued to it.
What makes Haerd different from Hinge, Bumble, or Tinder?
Three things. First, compatibility isn’t a guess — every profile shows a score and a breakdown built from questions we curate. Second, there’s no endless collecting: two active matches, no more. Third, profiles lead with voice, so personality comes through before looks. Other apps optimise for engagement; Haerd optimises for commitment.
Who is Haerd for?
People who are serious about finding a real relationship and are tired of the swipe-and-ghost cycle. If you’d rather have two meaningful conversations than fifty dead ones, Haerd is built for you.
How it works
How does the compatibility score work?
You answer curated question packs about your values, lifestyle, beliefs, and what you want from life. We turn that into a compatibility score on every profile you see — plus a full breakdown showing exactly where you align and where you don’t. No more discovering the dealbreakers three dates in.
Why am I limited to only two matches at a time?
Because you can’t get to know someone while juggling twenty conversations. Haerd caps you at two active matches so every chat actually means something. To start something new, you make room first. It keeps dating intentional instead of disposable.
Why voice prompts instead of just text and photos?
Text flattens people. The pause before an answer, the laugh, the warmth in someone’s voice — that’s where real chemistry lives. On Haerd, profile prompts are short voice recordings, so you get a feel for who someone actually is before you meet.
How do I match with someone?
There’s no blind swiping. You like someone by responding to one of their prompts with a message — so every like comes with something real to react to. If they like you back, you’re matched and can start talking (within your two-match limit).
Profile & photos
Do I need to upload photos? Are they hidden?
Yes, you’ll add photos to your profile, and no — they’re not hidden. Haerd isn’t about disguising how people look; it’s about leading with substance. Your photos sit alongside your voice prompts and compatibility, so people see the whole picture.
What do I need to set up a profile?
A handful of photos, a few short voice prompts, and your answers to our question packs. You’ll also add the basics — things like your dating intentions, lifestyle, and what you’re looking for — so we can find people who genuinely fit.
Safety & trust
How does Haerd verify people are real?
New members go through video verification during onboarding, so you know the person you’re talking to is who they say they are. Verified profiles are shown first, so the people who’ve proven they’re real get seen first too.
How does Haerd keep the community safe?
Verification is the foundation, and you can block or report anyone directly from a conversation. We review reports and act on them. Please help us keep Haerd a place built on trust by flagging anything that doesn’t feel right.
Joining Haerd
When can I join?
Haerd launches in summer 2026, starting in London. Join the waitlist now with your mobile number and we’ll let you know the moment you can get in.
Why do you only ask for my phone number to join the waitlist?
Because that’s all we need. We use your number to verify you’re a real person and to notify you when Haerd launches — never to spam you.
Is Haerd only available in London?
We’re launching in London first to build a strong, active community from day one. You can still join the waitlist from anywhere — we hope to expand to more cities after launch, and you’ll be first to know when we reach yours.
Is Haerd free?
Haerd is free to use at launch, with some limitations. We’ll introduce optional paid features later on, but the core experience — finding a genuinely compatible match — will always be available for free.
